Sweet Power

Oh, sweet-tasting Power,
your Kool-Aid is divine…
You switch from hot to freezing;
your waters taste like wine.
You give me all the colors—
you smell like roses too.
Oh, sweet-tasting Power,
how much I yearn for you.

You wake me up in morning time;
you lull me back to sleep.
You scratch my back and rub my head
and feel me oh so deep.
You follow me to every room;
you open all the doors.
With you, I’m always first in line—
we fly first class, of course.

You have a way of knowing;
you have that special touch.
Oh, sweet-tasting Power,
I want you oh so much.

You know…
it would be perfect—truly—
that heaven I must find—
if you could stay a minute,
slow down and let me sigh.

We traveled to so many places,
but home now feels so far.
I think it’s time to turn around—
I want to hug my mom.

I love you, Power dearest—
I really do, I swear!
Without you it’s so boring,
without you it’s despair!
But darling, you’re relentless;
you never stop to rest.
Each time I think I’ve caught you,
you’re off to chase the next.

You drive me ever forward,
too fast to ever feel.
I reach but never hold you—
and wonder: are you real?

And now I feel so ancient;
I’ve done it all—and more.
But even with these riches,
I’m emptier than before.

I found what can’t be taken—
where time is mine to own.
I bid farewell, sweet Power—
I’m finally going home.
