Remembering
To know you so slowly—
as if remembering a dream.
Then slowly, a picture begins forming,
and the memory turns a corner and disappears.
To know you from there—
from the moment of parting…
To know you through travel away
and, at the same time, in return.
In circular motion we part toward reunion;
in circular motion we forget—
and remember again.
To remember you back, oh so slowly,
like trying to recall a sweet dream.
And the nightmare begins with remembering—
the trouble of bringing you here.
To come back to each other so slowly,
to have a chance to remember each step…
To close the distance we traveled,
careful not to accelerate pace.
To enjoy remembering each feature—
by the slightest detail allowed:
by the way your hands grip my fingers,
by the way it feels when you cry.
To celebrate each golden moment of knowing—
of knowing that this time, we are not missing a thing.
This time, we are enjoying each golden moment,
as if we are living the sweetest of dreams.
